Webs Weekly #7

Hey, so it’s been a while. I swear this was ready to be posted the same night as the start of the infamous 2011 crawlspace blackout. A sad event that left so many spidey fans high and dry one sad, lonely week in June. Fortunately though, the down time gave me the opportunity to finish up some gaming that had been lingering. So with some unexpected, extra time on my hands, I finished my second play through of Shattered Dimensions to maximize my achievement gathering. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be getting 100% in that game thanks to three frustrating achievements, but I’ve completed everything else, so I’m satisfied with the 26 hours or so I got out of the game. Good times. Here are some Shattered Dimensions related pictures!

Spider-man Comin Atcha by Phostos (left)

The Amazing dimension was my favorite portion of Shattered Dimensions. I really liked the art-style in that dimension, just like I enjoy the art in this piece by Phostos. The angle of Spider-Man landing on the side of the building coming ‘atcha’ is nice and active.  Phostos says he created this after taking a seven year break from drawing and the only other example of his work on his page is a nice team-up piece between Batman and Captain America.

Spider-Man 2099 by spidermanfan2099 and snareser (right)

This was probably my least favorite dimension in the game but I’ve also never really been a big fan of the 2099 comic line either. I do enjoy this piece by comic artist, spidermanfan2099, however. It is not as bright and vibrant as the world depicted in Shattered Dimensions but it does have a real nice color scheme to it. spidermanfan2099 has lots of other professional pieces showcasing the Karate Kid fighting various characters such as Deadpool, Karnak and Captain America. There is also a nice showdown between Galactus and Unicron.

Spider-Man Noir by vinnieg007 (left)

I spent a good amount of time in the Noir dimension, doing what the spidey in this picture is doing: standing around and watching things. I really enjoyed the stealth-base portion of this game and its artwork was some of my favorite in the game. I like the look of the nice watercolor with charcoal highlights in this digital piece. vinnie has depicted one of the most original trios I have seen when he teams up Spider-Man and Batman with the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Venom by Luthienne88 (right)

Poor Ultimate Peter Parker, saddled once again in Shattered Dimensions with the symbiote suit thanks to Madame Web. Luthienne shows off some slick inking skills in putting the symbiote costume back on Peter. This practice piece is a copy of a Ultimate Comics cover done by Stuart Immonen and Richard Issanove. Luthienne has a portfolio filled with a bunch of traditional art school paintings and projects, as well as some nice fan art pictures including a Venom vs. Thor painting.

Spider-Ham by ViniVix (left)

The appearance by Spider-Ham in the end credits was a nice touch to the game. Don’t really have much else to say about it. Figured I’d throw Peter Porker some love here too. I’m not sure why the background looks like the Japanese World War II flag, but I like the classic Spider-Man pose the pig is taking. ViniVix’s page is in Portuguese but you don’t need to understand what the page says to appreciate the nice animations found in his galleries.

Alright, hope you enjoyed a little trip down video game memory lane with me.
