We heavily emphasize the ‘just a rumor’ thing. Don noticed this earlier, and so far it’s an unconfirmed rumor. Movieweb.com cites a “source close to the production” (again, as do most rumors!) that Canadian actress Sarah Gadon has been cast as Mary Jane for ‘Amazing Spider-Man 3.’ From the site:
Sarah Gadon is a Canadian actress who studied at the University of Toronto. Also a dancer, she made her TV debut in 1998 with a role on La Femme Nikita. She made her feature film debut with the little seen teen comedy Fast Food High in 2003. She most recently appeared in last year’s thriller Antiviral, and starred in Cosmopolis opposite Robert Pattinson. She next appears in Dracula with Luke Evans and Dominic Cooper, which mixes the fact of Vlad the Impaler with the fiction of the blood-sucking Count.
The 26-year-old actress was reportedly cast before the news of Mary Jane’s departure from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was revealed earlier this week, and since the sequel to Divergent has yet to be announced, it looks like the role was re-cast due to some of the concerns surrounding the character, as rumored.
The article does go on at length to discuss Shailene Woodley and possible scheduling conflicts that could have arisen over the sequel to her ‘Divergent,’ which is aimed at being a franchise. But for now, take this with a grain of salt. Sometimes rumors like these get out there early and turn out to just be wishful thinking. For more pictures of the very pretty Ms. Gadon, click here!
We’ll keep Spidey fans updated if this is later confirmed or debunked. Because it’s Spider-Man Crawl Space and it’s… what we do.

On June 21st Sarah Gadon confirmed on her Twitter account that while she has signed onto the Spider-Man franchise with a small role she is not playing Mary Jane. This was updated by yours truly on the Crawl Space’s Facebook page but not on the main page due to the site’s outage during the move to the new internet host.
