Webshooter with MP3 Player

WebshootersIn the recent Entertainment Weekly issue it gave a break down of the features of the new Spider-Man suit in the new sequel movie. It seems they’ve decided to put an MP3 player in the webshooter. What do you think of this new feature?

@#9 - "They’re taking this “modern interpretation” of Peter Parker too far that it already deviates from his character as portrayed in the comic books." I don't see it that way at all. I can definitely see Spidey being so confident in his abilities that he would listen to some tunes while stopping some thugs. Sure, he would need to concentrate more when fighting super villains (like Electro), but against common street gangs? I see no problem with that whatsoever. Besides, if you ask me, the comics have deviated from the character so far that it's a completely different book altogether. And no, I'm not just talking about the current "Peter-pus" fiasco either. Unless Spidey gets his MP3 player through a deal with Mephisto, I'm OK with it.

It would make much more sense if the trigger button of his web shooter could be used as a remote control for the shutter release of his camera (yes, the small one which he keeps in his utility belt, not the one which he uses as Peter). In that way, Peter wouldn't be restricted to shooting random pics of spider-man while the camera is in full auto-mode. In addition, the web-shooter triggers could also be employed to adjust the frequency of his spider-tracers. I'm not sure about the MP3 player thing. I don't think Peter listens to music at all (if you read Back in Black, there's a scene there where he tells MJ that he doesn't listen to music). They're taking this "modern interpretation" of Peter Parker too far that it already deviates from his character as portrayed in the comic books.

The cynic in me would say: "Sounds like product placement." I can see the ads on Cartoon Network now: "Hey kids, get the new Spidey Webshooter and play music!" From a storyline standpoint, not sure why adding an MP3 player to the webshooter makes any sense. Not close to your ear to hear well when whistling through the high canyons of NYC. Instead, having Spidey design a miniature Bluetooth headset, with cell and MP3 capabilities...now that would make a bit more sense, especially if Peter designed it. This would show off his genius in electronics, similar to Peter's first Spider Tracer in ASM, which was actually a handheld device. Just a thought...

@5, I can see why you'd want that, but I can't see peter going through all that unnecessary work when it's much easier to just buy one, and modify it to fit the web-shooter

Interesting addition I think it would be more interesting if Peter made the MP3 player himself

mp3 player makes sense. come to think of it i'm surprised we haven't seen it already in the comics. (have we?) hanging around on a five hour patrol waiting for stuff to happen, i guess you will go a little loopy after a while & start talking talking to gargoyles named bruce.

I though it would be a mini-camera for taking pics, but I don't think the bugle will be in this movie yet.

I hated it when Jessica Biel used an iPod during her fights in Blade Trinity. Terrible idea. Crippling one of your senses while fighting. However, it seems like the type of poor decision a teenager like Peter would make. And presumably Spider-sense could overcome any handicap. Most likely, this will be just a cute idea used to comedic (or some similar) effect in the film, not a defining change to the Spidey mythos, or whatever. Yeah, I'm for it.

I think it's actually a pretty clever idea. Peter has to be a bit more comfortable with his powers now, and I absolutely could see Spidey listening to music while kicking some bad guy butt! Depending on what songs they use, it could make for some really fun scenes. Imagine a scene in which Spidey runs out of web fluid, and the song that plays is: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/1lWJXDG2i0A" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> And while fighting Electro, they could play: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wzw6j1mAnsQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
