Spider-Memories # 112

Amazing Spiderman 260-17This classic scene is from Amazing Spider-Man # 260. I remember laughing out loud as a kid with this scene. Classic DeFalco and Frenz.

I always loved this scene. ASM #260-261 just so happen to be my two favorite Spider-Man comics, Ron Frenz if my all-time favorite Spider-Man artist, and Tom DeFalco is tied with Stern as my favorite Spidey scribe. It's solid gold stuff like this that made me love this era of Spider-Man. Unlike today's comics, everything wasn't so serious, and the art looked like comic book art is supposed to.

That is honestly one of my all time Spider-Man bits, not just Hobgoblin. The absurdity of it all perfectly captures Spider-Man for me. It was nicely done, because it didn't dwell on the fact that they were fighting in a ladies room, nor did they really call attention to it. And they artwork is top notch. Frenz is one of the all time greats, and it puts most of the modern artwork I see to shame. Love it.

@8 - if you review George's link you see that after the fight the Hobgoblin says "It appears that I've already taken everything of value that was left behind by the Green Goblin! I'm on my own now!" I think it's safe to say this is definitely Kingsley.

FYI Crawl Spacers! We covered this in-depth back in April 2010 with the first ever Spidey Friday Night Fights! We hadn't worked out the layout kinks for that one so it looks sorta jumbled but it's still there, warts n' all! 8) http://www.spidermancrawlspace.com/2010/04/16/spidey-friday-night-fights-premiere-edition/

Ha ha! I remember this so well! After this bit, I remember Spidey webbed a pumpkin bomb to his hand, forcing him to put it out in the toilet. (it's a bit juvenile, but it is still hilarious)

As much as I prefer the Hobgoblin written by Stern, I must admit DeFalco is a close second. These were good issues with the character. Until the Hobgoblin mystery went on so long that I stopped caring.
