Swarm Day: The Origin of “Covered in Bees!”

In honor of International Swarm today, I’ve decided to share with you a little piece of Crawlspace Podcast History. All those (however many) years ago, when we were talking about the Spider-Man Broadway musical on the show and Swarm’s appearance in it, I first exclaimed, “He’s a Nazi skeleton covered in bees!” (or something to that effect). And I just assumed folks got that my delivery of the “covered in bees!” part was inspired by the Eddie Izzard joke. But it’s come to my attention that not everyone has seen Eddie Izzard’s hilarious stand-up comedy special “Glorious.” I know, right?! So, for those of you that are celebrating International Swarm Day at home with your loved ones, I present to you a classic in bee comedy and a part of behind-the-scenes Crawlspace Podcast history (CAUTION: Some profanity herein):

Kevin - this all started with Stella's review of the musical. That's when you opined "The Nazi skeleton made of bees." Episode 125 of the podcast, aaaall the way back in January 2011. So yeah almost three years ago.

@3: I was never able to pick between Glorious and Dressed To Kill. They're both too damn great!

And now I'm going back to celebrating with my loved ones. It's *my* turn to wear the stinger now!

This was great! I've liked Izzard as an actor since seeing him in Mystery Men and lots of other roles. Never really watched his stand-up before but yeah he's pretty much responsible for all this now!
