Boy With Cancer Gets Birthday Surprise From Dad Dressed As Spider-Man

Spider-Dad--UKIndependentA kid getting a surprise visit from their favorite superhero on their birthday is rather special.  Even more special, however, when that same superhero turns be your dad.  Such was the case with 5-year old, Jayden Wilson, when “Spider-Man” landed on his front door step for what could very well be his last birthday party.

You see, Jayden was diagnosed in August 2013 with a Grade Four Brain Stem Tumor. A follow-up examination last September confirmed the tumor had grown in size, and the doctors told Jayden’s parents their son may only have a year left to live.

Thus Jayden’s father, Mike Wilson, a professional free jumper from Great Britain, decided to become his son’s favorite wall-crawling, web-slinging superhero for a day.  As quoted by the UK Independent:

I’ve always been a big Spider-Man fan myself, and Jayden also absolutely loves him. His bedroom is covered in Spider-Man pictures.

I wanted to surprise him so much with one of his favourite heroes, so I found 2 costume designers, who were up for the challenge. We had the costume printed in America and then got to work putting it together. It was finished about 3 weeks before Jayden’s birthday so perfect timing to work out how to surprise him.”

After claiming he had to “go to the shop,” Wilson then set-up a hidden camera on his front porch to record his son’s reaction. And as seen in Mike Wilson’s YouTube video posted below, Jayden was very surprised indeed:

Wilson also added:

I hope to achieve awareness about the condition and to always stay upbeat, positive and spread positive energy to help Jayden fight this.

He’s such a little hero and we want the world to know about his journey. As well as to see the Spider-Man video and generate inspiration from it, so that kids have dreams made realities.

This is such a sad thing and also such a beautiful thing at the same time. People forget that Spider-man is not just a comic character, hes something that makes people happy....young and old. The father doing this for his son is amazing and real. My prayers go out for all of his family. "The Boy who Collected Spider-man". 'Nuff Said.

It is so sad. I will never understand why such an innocent young child has to suffer and see his life end so soon. At least he has a loving family to comfort him. My prayers are with this family.

This is both adorable and sad. It's adorable how his father cares and gives him a fun moment. The cancer condition is sad, for the entire family.
