@Jack If the actual goo that was Ben Reilly was reconstituted into a person again then that IS Reilly. But if it's just a reanimate harvested from a couple cells extracted from the goo, then it's just another clone of Ben Reilly. My feelings anyway. I'm an atheist too, but if I lived in the MU and saw the crazy crap that happens there on a daily basis I would be praying all the time.

Marvel has shown many times that souls exist. The spirit/soul of Uncle Ben is in whatever represents “heaven” in the MU. Dr. Strange’s soul travels outside his body. So does Professor X. Mephisto’s hell is filled with condemned souls. Peter has even talked with Uncle Ben, posthumously. This means the Jackal’s temptation wouldn’t be tempting in the least, at least not to Peter. This is the crux of Stillanerd’s complaints against the series: none of these are the original people. I have wondered in the past if Slott is an atheist, because he seems to assume that if a material body (plus memories) is revived, this is the person. Consequently, Slott approaches the story as if this scenario is a really powerful temptation. But Peter ought to dismiss the whole thing out of hand.
