Ultimate Spider-Man #31: “Black Van”
The Story: The Death of Captain Stacy! Janet Van Dyke--The Wasp! The Face-to-face between Spider-Man and his imposter!
The Good: A new twist to the death of Captain Stacy that makes it the Spider-man imposter’s fault so-to-speak. Now the Love Triangle between Gwen, Peter, and Mary are going to heat up with Gwen now living with Peter and he’ll probably be a shoulder to cry on for her. Finally a face-to-face meeting between the imposter and Spidey! The next installment will sure be one hell of an issue! Also the confrontation of the Wasp and Peter was great, seeing some intermingling between the Ultimate series is good, like with Iron Man in issue #28.
The Bad: Nothing that I can really speculate about—it was almost flawless.
The Rating: 4 Ultimate Spiders out of 5

Ultimate Spider-Man #30: “Emergency”
The Story:
Spidey gets a bullet in the shoulder and deals with it to the extremes.
The Good: Young, 15 year old Peter Parker takes a bullet, and still manages to be with MJ by the end of the issue--damn he’s good! This issue truly showed how strong Peter is, and how he can over come, even a bullet wound, by using his brain. The Story, and the Art always come together beautifully, and its really great to find that in a comic these days.
The Bad: Norman Osborn on TV?! Dissing Spidey?! …Boy does he recover fast…wasn’t SHIELD going to hold him? Shouldn’t SHIELD have held him?
The Rating: A beautiful 4 out of 5 Ultimate Spiders.

Ultimate Spider-Man #29- "Stolen Identity"
The Story: RUN DOWN TIME!:Spidey kicks peoples arses while Ben Urich watches! Gwen Stacy moves in with Peter and Aunt May! Mary Jane gets pissed because of it! Spidey gets a bullet through his left shoulder! My Thoughts? One hell of an issue!
The Good: Well for Peter, absolutely nothing, but for us the reader, and excellent read: yet again B & B match together tantalizing artwork with pulse pounding, and heart rendering writing! Gwen moving in with Peter? Pure genius! Sure, Peter's got MJ...but come on! You've now got Gwen LIVING with you. Take advantage of the situation already...we know before Venom comes knocking, you'll already take advantage of this sweet sweet situation. Now, is it me, or does anyone else sense the Chameleon lurking about?
The Bad: Spidey got shot. SPIDEY...Got Shot?! He didn't deserve it...but hell is he screwed in issue #30. I know that last page's image is going to stick in your minds...it already has for me.
The Rating: 4 Ultimates Spiders out of 5

Ultimate Spider-Man #28- "Sidetracked"
The Story: A stand alone, fill-in issue which almost has NO affect on the whole continuity...well except for the fact of Ultimate Rhino and a Gwen breakdown. Oh yeah, and Iron Man saves the day, too.
The Good: Like always, history repeats itself: Bagley's artwork. But, even with that, the art on the first view pages...I didn't find so appealing...well, with the exception of the Rhino two-page spread; that was sweet. Also, the way Bagley had drawn Ultimate Iron Man, I found it quite nice. Even though it was just a fill in issue, it was still a great issue all around. The Cover was awesome, stunning at best. But the one thing that made this issue SO important to continuity...Peter cut his hair! Now he doesn't look so much like a geek as he did for the past 27 issue! Go Spidey!
The Bad: Spidey didn't get to save the day after all that trouble?! Damn...what shame!
The Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Ultimate Spider-Man #27-Illegal
The Story: By the name, you can't tell $#!T, but it does get you thinkin' bout the bombshell Fury drops on Peter after Norman is subdued...by his OWN SON! The Rundown: Harry (litterally) backstabs his own father, and Nick Fury tells Peter, as soon as his eighteen "you're mine." Peter, at the age of 15, is an illegal unnatural genetic mutation, so at 18, Fury will own him. kinda
creepy, but at the rate these comics go buy, he won't turn 18 till about issue #300.
The Good: I say it every time, but it must always be said: Mark Bagley's art. One thing I love about this series, is how just about every cover has nothing to do with that actual issue, its just there for Mark to do what he wants with it, and thats great. The story was very well done, Norman's out
of it, Peter is illegal, Harry stabbed his father, and Mary and Peter have a quite sit down at the end.
The Bad: The sick state Norman was in. He nearly looked like Abomination for a second there. Rather strange, but still doesn't bring down the rating.
The Rating: 4 out 5.
