  1. See, this is what I’m talking about when I say that Spider-Man has gone from being a “character” (Peter Parker), to an “archetype” (see the Brevoort Manifesto: “Spider-Man must be XYZ [or ELSE.]”), and has now fully devolved into a “brand.”

I long for the day when the 616 just had the one Spider-Man. Miles works as a legacy character. Miguel’s awesome, but he’s got his own world. Mayday’s the GOAT, and current Spider-Man stories should be leading towards the MC2 in my humble opinion, but she belongs in that future. No Web Warriors. No dimension-hopping. No more futzing ALTERNATE COVERS like Spider-Gwen (who resembles Gwen Stacy in name only) and Gwen-Poole getting inserted into the canon. Just Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man. His wife. His friends, who are the absolute best supporting cast in comics. And their badass rogues gallery. Going on new adventures and in general exploring the Great Sacrifice that must come with Great Responsibility.

@Jack lolol!! Ike Perlmutter reminds me a little of Jim Shooter. There doesn’t seem to be much love-lost between him and the people he used to work with, but I’ll be darned if Marvel didn’t produce some of its best stuff when he was at the reins.
