Spider-Man Buys Legendary Los Angeles Comic Book Shop

pr1A complete Amazing Spider-Man collection is up for auction on ComicConnect, the Guinness World Record holding auction house located in the heart of New York City.

“We’ve known the consignor, Eddie DeAngelini, for a few years now and we’re thrilled that he is using the auction proceeds to purchase Hi De Ho Comics, the oldest comic book shop in Los Angeles,” explained Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments.

As a child, DeAngelini’s favorite character was, by far, the Amazing Spider-Man. It took him nearly four decades to compile every single issue of his Amazing Spider-Man collection and his highlight book is Spidey’s first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC-certified 1.0 GD/FA with slight restoration.

More highlights include: Amazing Spider-Man #1 GD-, #13 VF-, #9 F/VF, #3 FN, #4 VG/F and hundreds more!

When approached with the prospect of owning part of Hi De Ho Comics, DeAngelini’s choice to sell his collection to pay for his share of the company was a no-brainer. The Amazing Spider-Man auction will allow him to fulfill another lifelong goal, becoming a comic shop owner.

Now part owner of Hi De Ho Comics, DeAngelini looks forward to the results of the January 12, 2015 auction. “Although it was hard to part with the collection, the amount that it will bring will open up a new life changing opportunity,” he explained. The collection is anticipated to total in the tens of thousands of dollars.

The company is always accepting consignments for their next Event Auction. Contact the Director of Consignments, Rob Reynolds, at robr@comicconnect.com or call him at (212) 895-3999, (Toll Free) 888-779-7377 (or international 001-212-895-3999) to consign your collection.

Hi De Ho Comics is the oldest comic book shop still in business in Los Angeles and is located at 1431 Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica.

It's a really great store,I always pop by every time I'm in L.A. Have five or six stores I always pop by. Blast from the Past and Big Kid for those old toys, and HiDeHo,Golden Apple and Meltdown for my comic needs. And one that I haven't actually checked out yet, lol. Getting to it though. Good luck Ed! And please don't change too much in the store, lol. J-R!

In 2013 I sold my complete run of Spider-Man comics (Which included every issue of every Spider-Man title including a slightly restored 6.0 Amazing Fantasy 15), and I used Comic Connect. It was sold at an event auction, and unfortunately (for me), I only got a fraction of what it was worth (under $20,000). Hopefully Mr. DeAngelini will fare much better than I did. Good luck.
