I still have trouble with the alien calling itself Venom, since I’m used to Venom being the name of the Eddie Brock / symbiote combination, whose bond is born of mutual hatred . As Hank Azaria said in the ’90s animated series, “From now on, we’re poison to you, Spider-Man. That’s why we call ourselves Venom.”
I still enjoyed the first movie, and I may even go to the theatre to see this one.
I can’t remember if this was in the first film or not, but I like how the store is out of chocolate, likely due to Venom eating it all – a reference to the Daniel Way (?) mini-series where Venom ate chocolate because it contains a chemical that Venom needs to live (or something like that).
