Just looked it up – FF 218 had Spidey fighting the Frightful Four and it was a two-parter, but part 1 was PPSSM #42, barely a year earlier than this panel. Funny how within a single year Spidey fights the Frightful Four twice – at least in this PPSSM/FF story the 4th member was Electro.
Man, they could not keep anyone in that 4th position of the Frightful Four for very long. It was like the drummer in Spinal Tap – constantly being replaced.

@hornacek: It was continued in ASM #215, which had the Fantastic Four show up briefly to help out Spidey and Namor. FF #218 was released several months before this issue, but did feature the Frightful Four.
Wasn’t this continued in FF #218 or something like that? This may have been my first exposure to a story that began in a series I was collecting and the conclusion being in a book I didn’t buy.
