Spider-Man: The real star of Marvel vs Capcom 3

I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to the latest installment in the hit fighting series, Marvel vs Capcom. Well the decade long wait is finally coming to an end tomorrow with Marvel vs Capcom 3, and everyone’s favorite wall-crawler is heading up the jampacked roster featuring stars from both the Marvel and Capcom universe.

I, for one, plan on picking it up at my local Gamestop’s Midnight Release Party and Spider-stinging X-Box live opponents into the wee hours of the night. Yes, I took a day off of work tomorrow to celebrate this occassion. Sadly, with the exclusion of Cyclops, Gambit and Iceman; Spidey and Captain America are without a third teammate so I’ll need to hold tryouts for their replacement. Hopefully they will release these characters as downloadable content in the future though. A list of the complete roster can be found here.

Anybody else excited for this game? What system will you be playing it on? Who will your team of three be? If anyone needs a sparring partner on Xbox Live or PlayStation 3 just leave a message in the comments. More pics from the game can be found after the jump, including a look at the alternate costumes you can use for Spidey (don’t worry, there’s no new FF or movie costume in case you were worried).

  1. Nice, I just spent a good several minutes watching Youtube videos of Devil May Cry cut scenes. I should probably give DMC4 a try. It looks just like the typical game i’d like and may make me appreciate his character more, although his character in Marvel vs Capcom seems way over powered in my opinion. Now I wanna play MvC3 but I gotta get this New Avengers review up at some point… damn choices

  2. man I am super excited for this game! i have been a huge huge fan of the previous games in the series and i am sure i am gonna love this game! now if they could add Green Goblin to the playable characters, i would be the happiest man in the entire universe!

  3. I have the feeling I’ll be seeing a lot of those three characters. Never played a Devil May Cry game so I have no idea what the draw of Dante is but he seems to be really loaded in this game so I’m sure a lot of people will be playing with him

  4. Yeah, they have a bunch of DLC packs for extra costumes in Street Fighter 4, but I don’t believe they have any character DLCs. I would think more costume DLCs is a nobrainer for this one, but they’ve also made it seem that extra characters as DLC would be possible for this one, so here’s hoping.

Also, if anybody wants to add me to their xbox friends list in order to play, my tag is HookrsAndSpdrMn

  5. Capcom did a bunch of downloadable content for their last street fighter, right? I hope this gets the same treatment. I’d want a bunch more Spidey suits. Gimme some ben rielly suits please.
I’ll prob get this game eventually, even though I’ve been pretty bad at these since the first Marvel vs capcom when then speed started getting ridiculously fast.

  6. I LOVE the Marvel vs. Capcom fighting series, and this looks like it’s gonna be the shizz. Spidey has the best costume swaps out of everyone where everyone else’s literally just a color swap.

  7. I can’t wait. Deadpool, Taskmaster, and…someone else will be my team!

And I can’t wait to finally get to use a Cap, Iron Man, Thor team.

  8. Philgoblin and the new FlashVenom(either as an alternate spidey costume or character) as DLC would be great.

  9. Spidey is my Valentine this year.

Green Goblin was a fake teased character a while ago. He would make a cool addition to the roster though, I agree. Taskmaster interests me as a third member of my team.

  10. A day off work?!? haha…and today’s valentines day no less! i like ur priorities…

I’m definitely not a video game guy by any stretch of the imagination…i peaked at sega genesis…but i’d reconsider coming out of retirement if the Green Goblin was featured in this game, its a shame to see his toady Taskmaster making the cut when he didn’t…
