  1. #33: Because he is a main stream comic character…and hot girls is just more natural in comics (like non-existing mucles in male main characters).

…and hot girls sell more comics.

  2. Maybe betty brant will get a shot with peter like in the old days, how come he gets all the hot girls lol

  3. Dear Ironspidey1983:
Ok whatever you say, I am done wasting my time arguing with you because as you said you have no familiarity with the 616 universe. Now go have fun with your Hulk-Goblin, Skanky Gwen, the unmasking of Peter to everyone etc. and keep reminding yourself every moment that what you are reading is “relevant” to the modern times! but remember that USM will always have to follow the 616 Amazing Spider-man because after all it is the real thing!

  4. I thought in 2009, that the information for it stated it would be ready Fall 2011. Would it be out early Spring 2012?

  5. Boosted sales and garnered the disdain of many fansn and the 90’s hype machine is partly responsible for the sales it is generally lauded as a dark period of time for spider fans and we all know sales don’t mean people enjoy what they read it only means that people buy whatevers on the shelf case in point BND andnwe have a whole faction of the crawlspace against the current spider man 616. The ultimate clone saga is regarded highly and a superior to the original tale. All clones in the 616 universe are good for are running away in fear of the kravinoffs. I’ll take my hulk gobin over BND any day of the week

  6. but i can understand you and all the fans of the ultimate universe fully. You all feel like a clone! Like a cheap imitation of the real thing that is inferior to the original in every way. You have my sympathy dude.

  7. Ironspidey1983:
At least the clones in the 616 universe generated some hype and boosted sales initially but the Ultimate’s clone storyline didn’t even do that!

  8. What part of the mythos u say persian and I return to you with Clones one of the biggest mistakes ever in comics

  9. Wait! What?! Paul Dini is doing this?

First Peter and MJ gets back in a relationship in Ultimate, and now Paul Dini is doing the cartoon? The creator of Harly Quinn! Marvel, you just reclaimed a customer.

  10. That pic looks like a mix between the 1980s animated Spidey look from “Spider-Man”/”Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends” and the way the suit was done on “Spider-Man Unlimited” when he was on Earth, before the show went downhill when he went to Counter-Earth.

I agree we need no Hulk-Goblin (though I fear we may see it due to that teaser poster), no random unmasking and no robo-Rhino. I would love it if we finally got to see guest stars, like the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, the Avengers and especially the Hulk (note: Spidey & Hulk haven’t been on-screen in an animated series since 1981’s “Amazing Friends” episode — come on, Marvel!)

Sadly, all of this hype for this show makes me miss “The Spectacular Spider-Man” even more. 🙁

  11. And I have a couple of questions to pose to all these Ultimate Universe fans: if Ultimate spider-man is so damn hot why did it have to be re-launched after only 133 issues? Why doesn’t it sell even half the Amazing Spider-man these days? huh?
And apart from Venom and his back story which was handled better by Bendis (and was handled even better by the Spectacular Spider-man) what aspect of the spider-man mythos has been done better by the Ultimate spider-man?

  12. Ironspidey1983: i love to disagree with u!
but it seems that others are on my side too.
NO Skanky Gwen, NO Hulk-Goblin, NO SHIELD, No random unmasking, NO Robot Rhino

  13. Not a bad look. And the animation looks fluid and smooth too. Here’s hoping the quality extends to story-telling.

  14. Looks nice! I wish it was classic Spider-Man though…I don’t necessarily have a problem with the Ultimate version (well, aside from Hulk-Goblin and Orange Hulk-Hobgoblin), but I prefer the original. No Geldoff please!

  15. nope, i’m not sold on this yet
spectacular spiderman was GREAT and i’m still mad at it’s cancellation
tacking the name of my favorite comicbook series onto a new show does nothing

  16. Looks nothing like the Ultimate design? You mean Bagley’s art?
Costume looks great, colors are great

  17. Looks really neat. I never really liked the spec character designs either, even though I got used to them. Let´s just hope the actual show is as good as well. I don´t mind the team-up aspect as long as it´s done well. And yes, please make more than two seasons of it!!

  18. I like it a lot. As much as I absolutely loved Spectacular Spider-Man, I never warmed up to the animation. This looks a lot more like it to me.

  19. I hate wen I see Persians moniker I instantly kno that im going to completely disagree with what he says.

If they don’t do those things then its not ultimate it’s just spider-man. And while it doesn’t matter which version it is so long as u get spidey back on tv I would just really like to see them stay as faithful to the namesake as possible plus bendis’ work is just so amazing that they should remain as faithful as possible. I a
Ready think they may have veered too much away from the great design bagley established but I guess I need to see Peter out of suit to really determine that

  20. The angle and pose is reminiscent of a Bagley shot from the comics, which is perfect considering the title. However, I saw the footage and may or may not have noticed that the webbing doesn’t extend down the sides of his arms. I’m hoping they haven’t changed the costume (again) because that’d really be redundant and counter productive.

  21. Isn’t this new series just supposed to be like the brave and the bold, where spidey teams up with a different hero every episode?

  22. Looks nice. Maybe the ‘ultimate’ thing was just a name they had in the bin? They’ve used spectacular and amazing so why not ultimate. Anyway looks good, fluid animation (though its not moving, but hey a man can dream) And Josh Keaton better return >U

  23. For one thing, first of all: I don’t know if anyone agrees with me but the writers better make [MARY JANE WATSON] Peter Parker’s female soulmate true love because if not, personally, the story will be off from the Ultimate Spider-Man original comic book plot and come on… MJ is the number one woman in my book and many other fans’ books period, NOT Gwen Stacy even though Emma Stone is freaking loveably hot and looks more like MJ (and better with red hair). Spidey’s suit is A+ accurate and his form reminds me of what he looks like in the old John Romita, Sr. comics and USM. Plus, after saying all of this, I sure hope that this show is popular enough to make it to at least five or more seasons. Besides being the fanboy of the stories, I don’t care if the cartoon strays a little bit away from the comic storyline because Spidey is Spidey no matter what and he is the coolest Super-Hero out of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman including that he is better than Batman’s human power (even though I prefer Dick Grayson as the NEW Batman in the new issues over Bruce Wayne).

  24. and let’s not 4get that the guys involved in this show are very creative! i really wanna see what teh talented Mr. Dini has in store for the Webhead

  25. Aint bad! I am happy it looks nothing like the Ultimate Spider-man Design! Now if they can somehow avoid the Hulk-Goblin, Skanky Ultimate Gwen or the boring-as-hell SHIELD, I’ll be the happiest human being on the face of planet Earth!
