   There isn’t the dillema: I want to be your girlfriend Peter/I want to be your boyfriend MJ/Gwen/Kitty/etc
   I like Carlie, she’s an underrated character

2. Just seems like more proof that they have run out of ideas on what to do with Spiderman so let’s do a shock value story where we say we are killing him and replacing him…

3. I think Ultimate is a better book than Amazing by far. Amazing Spider-man seemed like a boyish man and apparently he gets a new costume every three months anyway. I don’t know why people still read it. I read that last couple Ultimate issues and really liked what I read. He’s younger, but seems more of a man than the other one. The sad thing is that this is a better book. This will actually pay off in some way. We won’t get a lot of promises about unmaskings and ill-defined new powers.

4. this sort of story telling and 3.99 price is while i quit reading, i listen to the podcast and wait until the library releases the trade, i know, kinda cheap ass way to read comics, but money is tight!!

5. You know. As much as I didn’t want to like Ultimate Spider-Man, I ended up loving it. But, for me, no Peter Parker = no Spider-Man. If Pete’s really dead, I won’t be continuing to read USM. I never liked the whole clone thing. I never liked Ben Reilly (Kaine is kinda cool, though). But, come on Marvel!! Peter Parker is just as important, if not more so than Spider-Man. This is just a real bummer. No offense to those of you that will still enjoy the title, rock on. I wish I could too.

6. Bulletproofsponge: You mean Peter Parker no longer Spider-Man and possibly a clone of him takes his place taking a different guise? Or Peter dies? Cause both happened in 616

7. Finally, something that hasn’t happened in the 616 universe.

8. oh CMON! why can’t Jessica Drew become the primary spiderperson in the ultimate universe?! she’s the obvious choice!

9. And i was hoping that i could save some buck by dropping USM after Death of Spider-Man… Sigh… Look like you draged me back in again Bendis.

It’s BEN REILLY THE NEW SCARLET SPIDER BWAHAHAHA I LOVE THIS NEW DESIGN IM FREAKING OUT THAT IT’S NOT PP IN SUIT BUT THAT LEAVES FEW CANDIDATES TO TAKE UP THE MANTLE OH COURSE PETERS CLONE JESSICA IS RUNNING AROUND BUT BENDIS HAS DONE A REALLY GOOD JOB ESTABLISHING HER AS SPIDER WOMAN DESPITE HER RARE APPEARANCES. I WOULDN’T BE SUPRISED IF BENIDS THREW US A BONE AND IT REALLY IS A PETERR CLONE NAMED BEN REILLY. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED USM TO ME IT’S BEEN BETTER THAN 616 for a long time and I’m going back to when JMS was on the book I can’t wait to see what’s next!

11. On the downside, this just seems like yet another in a long line of “hero gets replaced by new guy with exact same powers” stunt that superhero comics have been pulling far too often. Not to mention that long time Spidey fans know what tends to happen when the guy under the mask isn’t Peter Parker.

    But on the upside, that new costume look pretty darn slick!

12. Probably Miguel O’ Hara. Hopefully not. Wait? Wasn’t it 157 with the death of him? 0o That and if they do kill him off, that so sucks. Oh well, there are other verses.

    With Norman and almost everyone else knowing his secret identities, He, Aunt May, Gwen, etc……. get different identities like the witness protection program.

    Everyone sees Spider-man supposedly die……. Along comes the new identities

    Technically not Peter Parker as Spider-man.

18. I have no clue whats going on in this Universe….I havent read it in years. So they killed Peter for real? WTF?????

19. I’m living the costume design, very akin to alex ross’s concept for the movie. But yeah, it reaks of gimmick.

20. I think its just more proof that the Ultimate Universe is dead.

21. New guy in a new suit. I had really expected him to change it into a Jessica Drew book, but I don’t see any boobs on that image. I like the costume design.

    It’s difficult right now to care about the Ultimate universe with all the delays (says the guy who has a podcast about it), so I don’t know how an entirely new Spider-Man is supposed to be a good thing, but I’ll check it out.
