Spider-Verse Teaser

imageOver the weekend Marvel released a teaser image for an upcoming Spider-Man event. Today, attached to a Dan Slott interview, CBR released the same image. This time without the mystery. Check out the full story on their website.

The event will start in November and bring “every Spider-Man from every universe together for the first time.” Until then we can play a game. Who can name them all?

BD Update: Marvel just sent me this press release. It looks like CBR got the scoop one hour earlier than the rest of us.

Every Spider-Man in History Unite for SPIDER-VERSE!

unnamedThis November, prepare for every Spider-Man…ever! Marvel is proud to announce Spider-Verse, the biggest Spider-Man story of the year from New York Times Best-Selling Spider-Scribe Dan Slott and blockbuster artist Olivier Coipel!

Kicking off this November in Amazing Spider-Man #9 (with a special lead-in story on Free Comic Book Day), Slott and Coipel assemble an legion of Spider-Men from every corner of every universe. Peter Parker, Miguel O’Hara, Miles Morales and many, many more must unite to stop a seemingly insurmountable super-powered foe. Morlun, an incredibly powerful villain has returned with a singular and terrifying goal – exterminate every Spider-Man in every universe! It will take thousands of spider-powered heroes to battle back the greatest threat to this universe or any other!

“The scope of this event is so big, the word ‘epic’ just doesn’t do it justice,” says editor Nick Lowe. “The story is just huge and heartbreaking and has necessitated spreadsheets to organize all the Spider-Men. Luckily we have a writer who has proven time and time again he can thread impossible story-needles [Slott] and the most versatile character artist in the business [Coipel].”

Fans can see the first hints of this event in April’s Amazing Spider-Man #1 but will get their first real taste of Spider-Verse in Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day Guardians of the Galaxy issue this with a special 5-page lead-in story available for free at all participating comic shops on May 3rd. This fall, Spider-Verse unites every Spider-Man in history to drive back the forces of darkness. But will an army of Spiders be enough?

Don’t miss the blockbuster Spider-Man event that will have the Marvel Universe on the edge of its seat when Spider-Verse hits comic shops this November! Plus, don’t miss the start of the next big chapter in Spider-Man history in Amazing Spider-Man #1 on-sale this April!

  1. I just took the quiz and thought it was cool. I took it twice and came out as a career woman, a friend of mine took it and got young and fun. We both thought it was eerily acecartu. I kind of thought it was cool, but I’m a business analyst. Still like lingerie though 😉

  2. I don’t get how this could be a big deal. When Cosmic Spidey shows up it’s game over for Morlun. unless he doesn’t show up and he’s only in the picture.

  3. @23: He’s already been on the title for a long time.

Five years on Amazing. Over 100 issues. Two centennial issues. 31 issues of Superior Spider-Man over one year+. Now a new number 1 to launch the newest volume of Amazing along with another year of writing the title. Seems like it’s time to give someone else a chance.

@26: It would be awesome if we got a street-level Spidey book where he’s solving criminal underworld mysteries and taking down Kingpin/Tombstone goons or something.

  4. @28 Beneath Spider-Woman and to the right of Symbiote Spidey, right? It looks like his Scarlet Spider costume.

Spider-Man Noir!!!! I just went through both Noir and Eyes Without a Face again, and I got upset once I realized how long it had been since the second one came out and there still wasn’t any talk of any kind of third book… here’s to hoping Slott does him even a sliver of justice.

  5. Maybe SpOck looked disheveled when he re-appeared at Horizon labs because Morlun had been beating the stuffing out of him.

  6. “It will take thousands of spider-powered heroes to battle back THE GREATEST THREAT TO THIS UNIVERSE OR ANY OTHER!”

Does anyone remember when Spider-Man would fight street crime? I like when he fights super-villains, but eventually stories like this are just ridiculous.

  7. The story will feature every Spider-Man ever? Maybe I’ll finally get to see the long-awaited return of my favorite Spidey—the one that was written well.

  8. Slott’s been on the title for a long time now, he has put out some great stuff on his run (New Ways To Die, No One Dies, first 3 Superior arcs) his stories are starting to become predictable and boring (Goblin Nation). It’s time to give Spidey to someone else, who that would be though I have no idea. I’d like to see Peter David on Amazing, but I know that will never happen.

This looks interesting, but I just have a feeling it’s going to be a convoluted mess like the Gauntlet. I’ll be interested to see how Slott writes May and Miles, I don’t see either of them working with his writing style, but who knows maybe he’ll surprise me.

  9. Ugh, Yost is the blandest. Hope Slott stays on the title for a looooooong time.
This looks awesome by the way. Hope the Spider-Man who was adopted by J. Jonah Jameson from a ’90s What If…? story makes an appearance.

  10. With this being story involving alternate Spiders and with Slott writing it I’m waiting for the issue where the “what if Doc Ock had stayed in Peter Parker’s body permanently” version of Superior Spider-Man shows up. It’s gonna happen I know it.

Hopefully it is Slott’s final Spidey story though, sick of him now. Give Yost the title.

  11. #19 Preach on!

And how cool is it that they have Spider-Girl, Captain Spider and Spider Jameson from What If #7

  12. If this story doesn’t culminate in Mayday punching Mephisto in the face, I’ll be disappointed.

  13. oh yeah I bet you spider-ham is going to be the one that saves the day at the end!!!

  14. That art looks amazing, ultimate and spectacular (pun intended) but I wonder if this is going to be like that deadpool vs deadpool mini that came out last year because I really was let down by it.

  15. Um, how are they going to do this? Most of those costumes are simply ones that Peter Parker wore throughout his career. The only other Spider-Men are Miguel O’Hara and Miles Morales. Well, from the preview I saw over at comicbookmovie, it looks like the alternate Peter Parkers will be in this as well.

  16. I have been looking for a jumping off point for a couple of years. This might be just what the doctor ordered. Tie the whole dang collection together with one neat little bow.

  17. Some of these are variants of 616 Spidey’s costume. Also, is Ben coming along on the ride?

  18. You know, it occurred to me why the Spider-Man from Marvel 1602 isn’t appearing on that teaser. Because based on the wordless preview scans, he’s going to be the first of Morlun’s victims and thus may be already dead by the time “Spider-Verse” begins.

  19. Gorgeous artwork. But I’m very skeptical about Slott writing Miles, Mayday, Ben Riley and Noir. I already dislike the way he writes Miguel O’Hara, and I don’t want to see him tread over more (good) alt universe Spideys.

I wonder if Iron Spider will be pre-OMD Spidey, I certainly hope it is.

  20. I was right to Madame Web’s shout out but to think Morlun was the villain. That takes me by surprise, i hope Mayday gets written well, Slott has said many times how he is a fan of the MC2 Universe. However, he has stated he enjoyes American Dream more.

  21. As long as this doesn’t lead to another stupid “Death of Peter Parker” story, I’m cool with this and excited to see it. Anyone else bummed that they’ve moved Amazing down to one issue a month?

#1 Slott will probably write Mayday as a complete moron, which is how Slott seems to love to write characters created by other people.

  22. Every Spider-man ever. Wonder if that means pre-OMD Spider-man or do we still pretend that didn’t happen.

  23. I see Mayday Parker, a interaction with 616 Peter would be interesting. Then again, how would Dan Slott handle the character.
