So Marvel Legends has been a big success for Hasbro. So much so that while we associate Legends with 6 inch scale figures they recently rebranded all marvel collector items with ‘Marvel Legends.’ (Personally I hate this as I feel it dilutes the line but really what’s in a name.) Two new ML lines they released were life sized props (Iron Man’s Helmut, Captain America’s Shield) and a new 12” inch scale figure line. The latter was the one that interested me the most so I actually picked up all three including patron saint of this web site Peter Parker Spider-man. So let’s take a look and see how he turned out.
Now while I say I was interested in this line, that interest didn’t extend to purchasing this item at full price. I live in Australia and at RRP here they where going for $100 AUD. Not only that but at regular retail we only saw Cap and Tony. We did not see the main one I wanted which was Peter. Lucky for me I buy a lot of 6” inch marvel legends off a site that ran a competition with the new spider-man wave pre orders and as part of that I won this figure. I do not say this to brag but to keep in mind when reading this review I acquired this figure for free, not with my own hard earned cash. SO “grain of Salt as they say.
Packaging.
First off the packaging on this guy is Great. It’s a nice black window box that has a metallic shine across the whole product and a little bio and pics of the figure in various poses on the back. The figure is just in a plastic tray so you can easily remove said figure, play with him and slide him back in when you are done. Very Collector Friendly
Sculpt.
The sculpt work on this guy is tremendous. He is a 100% new buck (buck is the base body of an action figure). He is very much the classic representation of Spider-man in his Red and Blues. None of the design screams any artist inspiration in particular. While Tony and Steve are more modern redesigns its great to see just a basic version of Spider-man here. This figure while being a new buck takes cues from his Marvel Legends 6’ cousin “Pizza Spider-man” (arguably the most popular current Spidey Figure). His sculpting on extra hands and rolled up mask head echo what was done on Pizza Spidey. One amazing new piece we have here is something I have wanted forever in the 6” line and that is a Peter Parker head. The sculpt on this head is fantastic, while not based off any particular artist version of Peter it still is clear to anyone looking at it that it is Peter Parker. . I do appreciate the fact it is an older Peter rather than the younger Ultimate Peter most recent figures have been basing their likeness on.
Now there are mixed opinions on the Webbing when it comes to Spider-man figures, some prefer for them to be sculpted. These ones are not. Which leads me to next section …
Paint
Believe it or not there is not a lot of paintwork on this figure. Most of the color you see is just molded plastic. What you do see however is extremely well applied. The main paintwork is on the webs of the suit. I myself prefer painted webs but that can go wrong when application is not well applied (look at Superior spider-man who’s paint apps wereall over). This figure might have the best paint application of any spider-man figure made by Hasbro. The few others bits of paint if on the Whites of the mask and exposed facial features. The brown of his eyes and hair are also spot of how I think Parker would look too.

The figure has an excellent amount of articulation

The joints are very tight and he holds poses well. You are able to recreate many great iconic Spidey poses but might struggle towards the McFarlane end of the spectrum. The only down fall here is if he is in an action pose it would be hard to display him that way on your self or for your Instagram photos (I know that’s what we all do …right? ). I recommend the Hot Toys Action stands at this scale but if you’re a casual collector you may not have these on hand.
Accessories
Spidey is the most decked out of the main wave when it comes to swappable parts. He comes with 6 hands and three heads. This gives you over 25 display options for your toy. As mentioned above I love the inclusion of the Peter head. I do wish however that they had given us crumpled mask accessory to pose with the figure. The Hands are Fist x2 Wall Crawling x2 and Web Shooting x2. These plus the articulation do add to really capturing the classic spidey poses
All in All
All in all he is a great figure. If you like the Pizza Spider-man this is that figure on a larger scale. The inclusion of a Peter head is a great cherry on top. Sadly he is a little expensive at his basic retail. This line is getting clearance though at a lot of retailers. I’ve seen him a lot at $30 USD and even as low as $15 USD during Amazon lighting deals. Somewhere around these prices I think he would be a terrific pick up. Great center piece to your Spidey collection.

It really IS a 12 Inc Marvel Legends figure. No half a**ing here. Sadly, Wal-Mart charged me $50 for mine!!!!
