  1. Even in that brief preview, PAD Ben27 doesn’t seem all murdery. Is this going to be another case where a better writer rehabilitates a character that Slott marred? Slott wrote Cindy Moon as an instantly-skilled sex-toy, but then the character was rehabbed. Slott ended CC by writing Ben as a murderous psychopath, so maybe the same thing will happen.

  2. Ghost Ben alone may very well salvage the series for me. I’ll probably have one of my fellow Spider-Fans at my LCS take the plunge and let me know how it is before I shell out $4 to buy a comic that I’m not totally invested in buying.

  3. I don’t think so. By the end of the Clone Conspiracy, I think Slott was pushing toward that it really was just cloning, but Ben was saying it was different out of delusions of greatness. I thought at first that we were supposed to buy in that it was not cloning but resurrecting, but everything that they gave us to think it would be something different was undone in the end.

I want to pick up a Peter David book anytime I can, but I’m just not sure I want to plop down $4 for the character that left Clone Conspiracies. PAD has his work cut out for him. If he makes this work, he truly is a master.

  4. Werent we told by Dan Slott that what Ben was doing with by resurrecting people was “totally not cloning”, yet the opening page of Scarlet Spider flat out says Ben’s plan was just…cloning people? Soooooo…is Dan Slott going to angrily rebuttal against his own publisher, telling them he’s right and they’re wrong before blocking them?
