Volume Five of IDW’s Spider-Man Coming in Feb. 2019

Amazon has a link up for the fifth volume of the Amazing Spider-Man newspaper strip collection. IDW does an outstanding job of reprinting these strips in a beautiful hardcover. Amazon says the volume will be released on February 12th, 2019. The reprint series began in 2015. Two additional volumes were released in 2016 and one in 2017. It looks like one won’t be released in 2018. By my math it will take 22 volumes for the series to reach 2018. Also if they release two volumes a year it will be 11 years before we see the 2018 volume.  Here is a description of the book.

The iconic superhero’s 1980s-era newspaper strip is the one major part of his adventures that has not been reprinted. Now saved from the dustbins of ephemera for all of the Wall Crawler’s fans in this deluxe hardcover series.
The woebegone web-slinger encounters problems that make Dar Harat seem like a sewing circle–if he can escape from their clutches, that is! Daily Bugle writer Jenny Sue Saxon arrives and falls for Peter Parker while trying to become Spider-Man’s biographer, even as Aunt May faces financial ruin in a very modern kind of bank heist. Mary Jane returns just in time to learn an important secret–and to introduce Peter to her Uncle Spencer Watson (what, no Aunt Anna?). Spidey’s reputation is under fire when he’s accused of pushing drugs. It’s not for the squeamish! And in a story that rivals the classic “drug issues” of Spider-Man’s comic book, Stan Lee addresses one of the most heart-rending problems of modern times: child abuse.

  1. The Spider-Man Newspaper Strips that Dan Slott wrote in “Spider-Verse #1 ” are actually kind of funny.
