Hey Crawlsplayers!  Hope you enjoyed that video!  It’s been awhile since I put up one of these, but I’m glad we made it to number 20 for Spider-Man Cosplay and I got a great guy here for you!  So let’s get dive in and find out why Cory favors Spider-Man so much and you know what, I’m going to let him do must of the talking!

Hi, there Spider-Man Crawlspace! My name is Cory Fowler and I love to cosplay Spider-Man.

What do I like about Spider-Man?
Peter Parker, whether he’s in comics or film, faces a lot of real world problems on top of his daily routine of being New York’s Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Problems like school, relationships, family, and a career. These are subjects that I struggle with even now. Peter shows me that he’s not perfect, but that he wants so badly to make that right decision. Trying to balance everything in a busy schedule that seems to only get more muddled with time is a situation all too common in my own life. Knowing that Spider-Man struggles with these same choices, makes him more relatable. He’s a superhero that would understand me, and know what I go through all the time as a busy twenty-something. I believe he and I would get along really well if we were to meet.
My favorite writers and artists? Am I recent to comics? Or did I read in the days of Stan Lee?
I, honestly, read both DC comics and Marvel. I’ve recently read a lot of Green Lantern starting from when Hal Jordan came back to life and currently finishing up the Sinestro Corp Wars. The most recent Spider-Man series I’ve read is the ‘Renew your Vows’ saga. It’s not very long, but it’s a really neat story including Mary Jane and Peter’s daughter, Annie. I’ve been reading comics for about 2 years now, and honestly, I haven’t pinpointed which artist or writer is my favorite yet, but once I figure that out, you’ll be sure to inform you on who I choose.
What made me dress up as Spider-Man?
I’ve always loved Spider-Man.  Whether as an action figure in my toy box, or as a costume I wore for Halloween, the Webhead always stuck around when I was a kid. Now, I truly believe in keeping a youthful outlook on life and letting the child in me roam free. So, after seeing some of my favorite Spider-Man cosplayers on Instagram, Playing the PS4 video game, and doing the research online for details on cost and quality, I just couldn’t resist. I purchased the Insomniac Advanced Suit from The RPC Studio and instantly fell in love. Nothing beats the feeling of wearing a really good Spidey suit. You almost feel like the Wall Crawler himself. I own six suits now with no intention on stopping there. I can’t wait to get more in the near future.

Do I know anything about Spidey?
Over there years, I’ve come to learn a lot about everything Spidey. I feel like I always knew about Spider-Man, but I’d have to say that I was formally introduced to Spider-Man via the Toby Maguire films in the early 2000’s. He still holds a special place in my Spidey Heart as my First Spider-Man. I feel as though, Peter and I are so similar in the way that we speak, and dress, and I even get told that look like him. Spidey even keeps my fitness routine in check. One day, I’ll look just like he does in his suits. I’m getting closer every day, but I won’t stop until I believe I look like Peter Parker himself.
MJ and Peter’s Relationship?
MJ and Peter have struggled for years to hold a strong relationship together. Depending on the comic, they get married, which is AWESOME! But in others, Peter is a flake, due to his commitments to saving NYC from baddies, and Mary Jane is really fed up with him never being physically present in the relationship so marriage seems pretty farfetched. Both of them are teenagers and hormonal, so that escalates things. And depending on where you’re at in the story, MJ doesn’t know yet that Peter is Spider-Man, so Peter is constantly lying to Mary Jane about where he his, and why he’s all beat up all the time. So, you can imagine that is not the healthiest relationship. However, Peter has had a thing for MJ since they were kids. And, in one edition, Mary Jane literally calls dibs on Peter and makes him her ‘Tiger’ when she sees him with Gwen. I really love them together. Honestly, when they aren’t fighting, they literally love each other so much, and everything they do for each other is done with such passion and care. It becomes such an adult relationship. It’s admirable.

Favorite Merchandise?
All the workout apparel I own that is in Spider-Man suit designs are probably my favorite. I’ve compression shirts that look like the Homecoming suit, the Future Foundation suit, and the Symbiote suit. I’ve also got compression shorts, socks and a Shaker Bottle that I take to the gym. These are probably my favorite things related to the Webhead that I own.
Getting the costume, were there any huddles?
So unfortunately I do not make any of my own Spidey Suits. but maybe someday I will. However, purchasing a suit isn’t all that difficult. You find the pattern you like, choose the details you’d like and then click order. The worst part is the waiting. Some shops it takes a few week, but for others it could take up to 4 months for the suit to show up. That’s the only hurdle, really. But, if you find you don’t like something about a suit, faceshell, or other than reach out to other Spideys. Normally, they can point you in the right direction to fix the problem.
First time being Spidey-Man
Well, I was geeking out cause my suit had just arrived. I threw it all on ASAP. Ran out to the porch and immediately took photos. But, I couldn’t stop there. I dragged my roommate out on the apartment to take photos of me on things and jumping off of stuff all around the complex. I was like a little kid again. it silly thinking of it all now but it was pure happiness, I promise you that.

Being called Spider-Man outside of cosplay?
Actually, people on rare occasion actually call me Peter, or Spidey. They may say it jokingly to get my attention. But more often than that, I get people talking to me about Spider-Man. I’d don’t know everything about the Wall Crawler but I totally want to learn more and talk about him when I can. So, I always invite it.
Other Cosplays I do?
While, Peter Parker and his alter ego are my favorite, I’d cosplay other characters. To list a few, Beast Boy from Teen Titans, Dimitri from Anastasia, and Natsu Dragneel from Fairytail. Normally, I cosplay characters I can find qualities that I relate to. But, sometimes, I cosplay characters because I want to be like them. And could be for any reason at all. Whether it’s because they’ve got a crazy quirk, I find them funny, or due to the bodaciousness of the character in general.
Favorite Cosplay to wear?
It all depends on the situation. The PS4 Spider-Man suit is my favorite to wear in general. I, genuinely, need to have a functional cosplay, too, especially for when I go to the cons. So if that’s the case, then I my favorite would be Tadashi from Big Hero 6. I get to wear normal clothes, use my normal hair, and carry a satchel around to carry any snacks, business cards, or flyers that I need. Other than that, it’s super hard to beat a good Spidey suit.

My Favorite Spider-Man Suit?
I don’t actually own a real classic suit. I apologize. I’d assume the closest I have to a classic suit is my Homecoming suit, or my Into the Spider-Verse Peter Parker suit. The suit that fits the best is my Symbiote Suit. Hardly a wrinkle to be seen. But my first suit, my Insomniac Advanced suit is my favorite one that I own.
Would I dress up as another Spider-Man character?
I actually would love to cosplay James Franco’s version of the Green Goblin from the third Spider-Man. But I think the Into the Spider-Verse Spider-Man Noir would be cool. I even have a Mile Morales suit in the works currently that I’m stoked to show off. Maybe even Mysterio. Who knows?
Peter Parker REAL?!
If I knew that Peter actually existed in our world, and I were lucky enough to meet him, I’d make sure he know that I support him, I appreciate everything he’s done for us, and that if ever he needs a hand, I’ll make sure I’m there to help.
I HAVE SPIDERPOWERS?!
You better believe I’d be like Mile Morales and get into the Spider-Man comics as if they were man instruction manual for ‘how to be a Spider-Person’. I’m sure it’d take a lot of practice to get the hang of at first, but I’d skip every plan I’d have for the day if it meant I could swing around Orlando all day. The suit would probably be a tank top and shorts so that I don’t over heat. Or maybe so special tech suit that has A/C built in. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’d be so stoked to get started. I would be a dream come true.

Spider-Man Mash Up?
If I were to do a Mash Up of any kind, it’d be a sports mash up. I love Pittsburgh sports. Steelers, Pirates and Penguins anything could be incorporated.
If it were my Buccos, then the suit would be mostly black with the yellow ‘P’ in the middle of the chest. The webs could also be pinstripes. I could have it say ‘Spider-Man’ across the back of the shoulders.   Then, if it were the Steelers the suit would be mostly yellow with black where the blue would be in the classic suit. The Steelers logo on the chest and something similar on the back like Pirates one. Oh, and for both suits the number on the back would be ’62’ in reference to Spidey’s first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15.  Lastly, the Penguin’s suit would be Black with that coffee house gold color as the accent, with the Pens symbol in the middle. maybe have a goal net for the webs in the armpits.   I haven’t put a ton of thought into these but I’m genuinely invested now.
Have I heard of this site before?
I have. @Dakotahsgrotto is my girlfriend and she interviewed for this site a while ago for her MJ cosplay.
Have a read any articles on this site?
Honestly, I don’t visit the site enough. I have read the ’10 worst things JJ has ever done’ article. It was crazy to think the J. Jonah is that hell bent on giving Spider-Man a bad reputation, and never really treats Peter well despite all the good work Peter brings to him.
Have I joined the message boards?
No, I haven’t. I definitely need to. I bumped to know I’m not a part of it already.
Discord?
Unfortunately, I haven’t joined yet.
Podcast?
NO! I just got into podcasts! So, you best believe I’ll be listening to it now.
