  1. Deb Whitman seems like just a nice, domestically-minded young woman; a home-body. Peter would have been a terrible husband for her. Comics don’t feature people like her anymore, it seems. Everybody’s a pin-up with mental issues.

  2. For all of those who love Spider-Man and the art of Alex Ross would you mind signing and sharing my petition to get Alex Ross to do a Spider-Man Noir comic.

  3. @Andrew C – Oh, he was horrendous to her, but what makes those stories so great is that at that time, Spider-Man was being written in so many different books and guest appearances and the writers didn’t know really what else to do when borrowing the character except to have Peter ditch her to go be Spidey. At some point someone noticed how absurd it was if you just read ALL the stories and then decided to turn THAT into a story. Completely ridiculous and certainly not a model for how to treat someone dealing with mental illness, but from a behind the scenes deal, this stuff is golden!

  4. The whole gaslighting-mentally-unwell-woman subplot has unfortunately not aged well. Peter was awful to Deb.

  5. I’m proposing that Adam makes Wednesdays into Whitman Wednesdays starting next week!

  6. Unfortunately the advancement of phone technology has made panels like that first one impossible nowadays.
