THE GOBLIN QUEEN AND CHASM REIGNITE THE INFERNO IN NEW SPIDER-MAN/X-MEN CROSSOVER DARK WEB!

Straight from San Diego Comic-Con, check out all the news about DARK WEB, a new saga launching in November

New York, NY— July 23, 2022 — Devilish details about DARK WEB have emerged during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con! Teased in various panels throughout the weekend, DARK WEB will be a Spider-Man/X-Men crossover story spearheaded by current AMAZING SPIDER-MAN scribe Zeb Wells. The saga will begin in prelude issues throughout November, followed by December’s DARK WEB ALPHA #1 where Wells will be joined by superstar artist Adam Kubert. From there, the web will be spun across issues of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN as well as various tie-in one-shots and limited series.

DARK WEB will find Spider-Man and the X-Men joining forces against two iconic characters that have experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years—Ben Reilly and Madelyne Pryor. As seen in this year’s FREE COMIC BOOK DAY: SPIDER-MAN/VENOM, the two wronged clones are teaming up as Chasm and Goblin Queen to raise hell across the Marvel Universe. The story will fan the embers of the iconic INFERNO crossover and pack an emotional punch that pays off decades of Marvel Comics storytelling.

Featuring artwork by Michael Dowling and Kyle Hotz, November’s AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #14 will be a special DARK WEB prelude issue that reintroduces CHASM, Ben Reilly’s dangerous new persona. Not seen since AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #894 and FREE COMIC BOOK DAY: SPIDER-MAN/VENOM, fans will see exactly what Chasm and the Goblin Queen have been busy with. The issue will also introduce a brand-new villain shrouded in mystery—HALLOWS’ EVE. Set to plan a pivotal role in the event, fans can get their first glimpse at Hallows’ Eve and her killer design in a new variant cover by Ed McGuinness. The superstar artist recently graced the pages of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN for this week’s 900th issue and will return to the title for the upcoming DARK WEB tie-in issues.

Writer Christopher Cantwell and artist Lan Medina will launch a new tie-in limited series during DARK WEB titled GOLD GOBLIN that sets up a new status quo for Norman Osborn. Norman Osborn’s sins may have been cleansed, but his memories weren’t and he’s done plenty of horrific things to remember. Norman’s worked hard to avoid all things “Goblin” and to stay on the straight and narrow. Consequences in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN pushed him to try super-heroing, and he liked it. But when the media dub him the Gold Goblin, he has to start wondering – can he ever get away from the Goblin inside?

Check out a special wraparound variant cover for DARK WEB ALPHA #1 by Ryan Stegman and stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information about this highly-anticipated crossover! For more information, visit Marvel.com.

  1. @Mohammed — Thank you! That makes a lot more sense. My confusion also makes sense, given that it seems odd to have one character named Goblin Queen and another called Queen Goblin, but I guess we’ve seen that sort of thing before with Spider-man and Man-Spider, even if they technically apply to the same character.

Admittedly, I’m not so well versed about the characters associated with Ben Reilly and the Clone Saga. That’s when I stopped reading Spider-man. It wasn’t until Revelations Part 4 and Birthday that I picked the book up again.

  2. Ben Reilly has become the Wally West of Marvel.

    @Michael & Sthenurus
Good eye on Hallow’s Eve. I had thought of Mary Jane, but Janine makes more sense.

Wasn’t Phil the Golden Goblin in the MC2?

  3. @Evan Berry

    It can be confusing

Ashley Kafka is still Queen Goblin and given that’s her arm, is most likely involved during the Hobgoblin issues, ASM #11 & 12

Madelyne Pryor is the orginal Goblin Queen, is an X-Men villian who was created back in 1983 in Uncanny X-Men #168

  4. This article seems to say that the Goblin Queen is Madelyne Pryor, not Ashley Kafka. Did I miss something? Or was there an upcoming reveal that they spoiled again?

  5. Consciously optimistic. I’m hoping we are getting a good send off to Ben.
Gold goblin: mc2 Phil Urich heroic persona being co-oped by Norman. Not a fan. Especially after Phil’s character (and literal) assassination.
Hallow eve is definitely Janine. Probably teamed up with Peter and Norman to bring Ben in. Will end up becoming his own Green goblin.

  6. It looks like Hallow’s Eve is going to be Janine. We saw a face in the goo in Spider-Man 93 that looked like Hallow’s Eve.
If Hallow’s Eve is Janine, and she and Ben are still together, then Paul probably isn’t Ben.

  7. Not sure how I feel about any of this, never was a big X-Men reader so this means nothing to me. MJ is on the cover so maybe this will move that awful Paul story along

  8. I’ve not read any of Well’s solo run so far. Though this looks interesting. I like the design of Hallow’s Eve.

    Gold Goblin(?) not for me.
