Hot on the heels of the Batman porn parody, Vivid Entertainment is ready to tackle Spider-Man. A report from Bleeding Cool says that the porn company will allegedly make parody films of Spidey, Hulk, Captain America and Thor. Is this legal? Is this legal parody? I’d be ok with a raunchy innuendo-filled “adult” parody that was supposed to be a comedy… but a full on “porn” flick gets a big ol’ Kevin Spacey “WRONG!” from me. Look how much publicity (on comic sites at least) this Batman thing has gotten since it’s announcement. I can only imagine that whenever the bleep it comes out it will be all over news headlines and some ignorant mother somewhere is going to flip out and get Batman banned from being in the library or crap like that. I sound really pessimistic about this, but since this doesn’t really have a good side either…

Seems like every time Black Cat shows up in the comics it basically turns into a porn flick anyway. Might as well make a bad film huh.
On the legal issue, as a general rule parodies do not infringe on the intellectual property interests of the original work’s owner. If the porn company can convince a court that this is within the category of “parody,” then they probably can get away with it. I know know the very basics when it comes to intellectual property law, but there’s your general rule.
I am pretty sure there is already a Spider-man themed porno out there…anybody familiar with the low-budget “Spider-babe”?

I don’t know if it’s legal or not, but after seeing the trailers for the “Batman XXX” film, I can’t wait! It looks like a parody with actual production value, and seems like it’s going to be amazingly true to the 60’s Adam West show.
Besides, it can’t be much worse than Spidey’s “sex-capades” with Black Cat recently…
