  1. @17 “Second favorite? Who’s above me on that list? If it’s Fettinger I’ll slit my wrists.”

…..You might want to grab some bandages.

“The porn review podcasts were great but I don’t know if that lightning can effectively strike a third time. It’s up to Brad though; I review them at his whim!”

And thus my craving for intelligent insight on fine erotica is denied.

Oh well, I guess with you slitting your wrists, we can call it even.

  2. @17 – “Your unhealthy admiration for ‘Spider-Man Vs Firelord’ aside…”

The most unhealthy admiration I have fight-wise is Spidey vs. the X-Men. Because he’s beaten their asses so much. 😎

“… I must admit you are my second favorite of the panelists.”

Second favorite? Who’s above me on that list? If it’s Fettinger I’ll slit my wrists.

“I am only so critical to you now because you have not published another porn review and that makes me very very sad.”

The porn review podcasts were great but I don’t know if that lightning can effectively strike a third time. It’s up to Brad though; I review them at his whim!

  3. @16 Why thank you, I most certainly will!

(P.S. Your unhealthy admiration for ‘Spider-Man Vs Firelord’ aside, I must admit you are my second favorite of the panelists. I am only so critical to you now because you have not published another porn review and that makes me very very sad.)

  4. @14 Forgive me. Your dismissiveness towards fans who don’t share your opinion and compulsion to vindicate yourself from criticism fooled me there for a second.

  5. @13 – And with that comment, I think it’s safe to say George’s the Dan Slott of the panelists.”

Totally, right? I need to stop doing this for a living and stop calling myself a professional now.

Oh wait. I don’t do that. Nor have I ever pre-emptively blocked 11,000 people on Twitter just because a social justice algorithm says they may have differing viewpoints, which just can’t be tolerated!

I also don’t Google my own name every 30 seconds so I can stalk people on the Internet who don’t agree with something I wrote.

  6. @36:10: “Of course some people probably hate it for that reason. ‘Oh Spider-Man shouldn’t be able to fight the Juggernaut.’ ‘Spider-Man shouldn’t be able to fight Firelord.’ Shut up, you don’t know anything.”

And with that comment, I think it’s safe to say George’s the Dan Slott of the panelists.

  7. Re-listened to this podcast today…great fight, and a great episode.

FYI, the Juggernaut from that clip you guys played was voiced by William Marshall. He is also famous for the title roll in the 70’s blaxploitation flick Blacula (which is really a lot better than you’d think), and as the King of Cartoons on Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.

  8. Actually, Madame Web originated in a Hostess ad. Probably more fruit pies, but it could have been a different snack. Definitively Hostess, though.

  9. @9 – It’s hard to believe there was a time when Kitty Pryde wasn’t a ninja.

  10. Yeah that was after the X-Men had gotten back from the Secret Wars. It was Wolverine’s way of getting even with Colossus after he fell in love with Zsaji on Battleworld despite being with Kitty. That was one of the few things I didn’t like about Secret Wars and that was Claremont’s way of addressing it. Kitty and Colossus broke up, she started hanging out with the New Mutants and then ‘grew up’ into Shadowcat later in the Kitty Pryde & Wolverine mini (which was excellent).

  11. According to Marvel’s wiki, Juggernaut’s next appearance is the Uncanny X-Men issue that George mentioned, where he and Colossus get into a fight in a bar.

  12. They actually covered Juggernaut getting out of the concrete as a flashback in ASM 629. He like walked underground for like 3 months or something before he came out at the bottom of the river.

  13. @5 – Thanks AC! In MTU #149 there was no mention of the Juggernaut story. It was a team-up with Cannonball. In MTU #150 (which is the follow-up story), Juggernaut has already escaped from the concrete.

Also, folks! In this podcast I explain how this two-part story from Marvel in 1982 would now be a huge, bloated event in today’s Marvel.

Well eddie9324 has compiled a list of issue solicitations for that event on our message board, and it’s some funny stuff! Check it out!

  14. Top five fight of all time. I do remember juggernaut mentioning what happened somewhere, are you guys sure it’s not mtu 149 or 150? I don’t remember the followup juggernaut story you guys mentioned in the pod cast, any chance you remember an issue number? Great job by the way…this was when spidey was the best…

  15. I mistakenly call the Cytorrak spell Strange uses the “Rings of Cyttorak.” Of course it is the “Crimson Bands of Cyttorak.” Strange’s rings spell is the “Rings of Raggadorr.” I blame the fact we were recording at 11pm on a day that I’d been up since 5am. 😎
