  1. @#22-The last eight years have been for naught. They’ve been OOC for 8 years because they broke up and stayed broken up which contradicts JMS run and shittons of things before. that being said yes they should have them get back together organically in at least one little arc.

  2. Word Press’s spam filter is something that defies explanation. It even gets me every now and then and I’m an admin. True story!

Jeff – I was wrong earlier. When I found yours I set them to ‘not spam’ but then it threw them into the ‘pending approval’ bin. They should be up now. Sorry for the hassle! 🙂

  3. Is that what happens when my messages don’t post? I bet there are a few of mine in there somewhere.

  4. I posted a comment here on this post two days ago and it ended up in the spam filter. I sent another post asking it be taken out of the spam filter and that never appeared either. Talk about giving a guy a complex! Any chance you can fix this?

  5. @17 – I’m glad I’m not the only one.
@18 – As much as I want MJ and Peter back together, I think it would be wrong for Marvel to just make it so without them getting back together and re-establishing their relationship. Otherwise it would just seem like the last eight years were for naught.

  6. Huh, so in the 2099 region of battleworld, Miggy’s a full-fledged member of the Stone family?

Also for GOD’S SAKE SLOTT! Ugh…

I was wondering why they didn’t make the kid Baby May & the villain of the piece Onslaught (that’d explain ‘all the other heroes being dead’ and line up with established continuity for the initial premise), but now I know-it’s because the marriage is coming back on Dan Slott’s terms, to satisfy his own vanity and try to get yet another of his pet characters grafted onto the mythos-only this time he’s piggybacking on the marriage to do it.

  7. @16 Jason — Yes, the same is true for me, as well. The people at the comic shop I frequented used to tease me because he was the only character I knew backwards and forwards.

  8. @12
I find big events confusing because I’m not familiar with other characters outside of Spider-Man.

  9. I keep seeing the Spider-Island tie-in, but my comic book guy doesn’t see it listed in Diamond’s database to order copies. What’s the deal?

  10. @#6 “WACKY HI-JICKS”
Wow honestly I couldn’t have put it better myself, that’s sums Slott’s run up perfectly!

  11. No Gerry Conway or Paul Tobin Spider-Man in the solicitations? In that case I’m not gonna buy Marvel Comics on Augest 2015.

  12. The solicit seems to suggest that Silk’s series will be ending, as well. It’s interesting to think how — and perhaps it’s the nature of the medium of comic books or maybe corporate-property characters in general — one never knows which elements will go or stay, which are sacrosanct and which are dispensable, all dependent seemingly upon nothing more than the tenuous whim of the current writing team or marketing strategies. Sometimes events are retconned in an offhand way or dismissed outright, and other times great care is taken to ensure a smooth transition between storylines — which to me are directly related to respect for the intelligence of the reader. It can be difficult for me, as a reader, to follow and keep up.

Secret Wars is making my head spin, especially given how difficult it is to know at this point how much of this will “matter,” in the aftermath. Perhaps that’s why discussions are focusing on that aftermath so much: Readers are maybe confused and overwhelmed by these big events, since they seems overblown and hyped, and the writers’ telling us how big the repercussions will be is a way to maintain an audience.

  13. @#3-Secret Wars will be over but Battleworld will remain, could the RYV Spider-Man remain in place as the regular Spider-Man after the event? At least for a while?

It sounds like a good idea but it makes me sad because they will not acknowledge the Clone Saga baby which logically should’ve come up. Also if that happens it might point to a non-continuity reboot

@#10-No, Battleworld IS the all new Marvel Universe for the time being. As in it will be around even after Secret Wars is over.

  14. Oh yeah, if you’re going for a major player in Spideys rogues gallery, top of the list HAS to be the Regent! Wait… What?!?

I seriously had to search to find who this guy even was only to find he appeared briefly in Howard mackies ghost rider run… In 1993. Highly acclaim as that was.

  15. @#3- Stillanerd- I’d have to say that’s probably not going to happen. That’d be too intricate of a twist, and Slott is fairly straightforward in his “twists”. In that, after it happens, you end up asking “That was supposed to be a twist?”

I’m kind of wondering though- is Renew Your Vows #4 supposed to be the last issue? Spider-Island is only on the third of the five issues it’s solicited for. Meaning it’s going to go into September, possibly October. So that means that the Secret War fallout will continue into September.

The “All New Marvel U” may debut in September, but we might have to wait until October until we find out what happens to Spidey.

  16. Well I guess that the baby girl is call Annie and not may is simple. She isn’t may! Baby may was killed in 616, but lived in mc2. If that little girl is the same girl as in omd, mephisto said that she is the daughter peter and mj should have had if they didn’t accept the deal, not the one they would have had up until then.
But I also have no faith in marvel or slott anymore. So they probably didn’t think about half as much as I did and just messed it up.

  17. #6: The…funny? ironic?…thing is, since Marvel is promoting Renew Your Vows as being tied to One More Day, and since Annie looks a lot like the red-headed daughter whose existence Peter and Mary Jane sold to Mephisto – if Annie turns out to be genuinely awesome, then it makes One More Day even more ridiculous and turns the Devil Deal into even more of a terrible thing.

Not that I expect Marvel to have thought that through…

  18. Remember, Marvel just utters whatever sales line they’ve come up with at the moment, because they think it’s what will “work”; then, two years later (or two months later), they will utter the exact reverse.

  19. @#5 – Y’know, considering Slott’s penchant for putting his own characters above classic versions, which I’ve come to realize more and more as I’ve been on this site, that wouldn’t surprise me. Like, “Mayday wasn’t active as Spider-Girl and fighting bad guys when she was a kid, but Annie is! Which means she’s so awesome and adorable!” Not to say she won’t be genuinely awesome and adorable, but still.

@#3 – I have no confidence in Slott writing something good out of that, especially with his what his idea of wacky hijinks for Spider-Man is. And somehow dealing with an AU baby from a marriage from an alternate universe Peter somehow doesn’t age him, but marriage does? Marvel you’re weird.

  20. And now we know the reason why Slott destroyed Mayday Parker’s world and turn her into a generic fatherless hero: so “Annie” can be the one, true daughter of Spider-Man to fight alongside her father.

    Golf clap, Marvel.

  21. @#1 Jack — Well said, Jack. Also I get feeling based off this cover and solicit that Annie Parker (yes, that’s going to be the name of Peter and MJ’s daughter in this series) will be one of those “elements” Dan Slott talked about that could carry over into Spider-Man after Secret Wars is done. However, in keeping with the drama and comedy hijinks, the 616 Peter and MJ have never married and also never had kids, meaning they’ll have to raise and share joint-custody of a daughter they literally never had.

  22. So Spider-Kid is going to beat the stuffing out of Boomerang and Beetle. I find that amusing, and potentially entertaining.

I also see it as an example of how a married Peter with kid(s) is no problem to a cool Spider-Man series. Which is why I roll my eyes at anyone from Marvel preaching that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to have a married Spider-Man, let alone with kids. I say back to every last one of them: These are fictional worlds which depend on huge suspensions of disbelief, so the scenario can be **anything you want it to be.**

If Thor can be a lady, and the Richards can have kids for 40 years, then Peter Parker can be married and/or have kids.
