MARCO SPEAKS SPIDEY: The Amazing Spider-Man (2026) #30 REVIEW

The Amazing Spider-Man #30 delivers a strong mix of emotional fallout, psychological tension, and classic Spider-Man complications, making it one of the more personal chapters in Peter Parker’s current arc. While the issue still has super-powered chaos, its strongest moments come from Peter’s struggle to regain control of his life after Ben Reilly’s actions left his reputation, relationships, and career in pieces. And, yeah… that shocking reveal at the end was pretty mind-blowing, too. I’m going to have to recover from that, big-time…

PROS:

The issue opens by showing how far the damage has spread. Peter’s personal life is a mess, and even simple responsibilities feel impossible when he is being pulled into another crisis. The story does a good job of making Peter feel overwhelmed without making him passive. He is trying to do the right thing, but every attempt seems to create a new problem.

The central conflict with Brian Nehring works because it is not just a physical fight. His power taps into control, guilt, and resentment, forcing Peter and the people around him to confront emotions they would rather avoid. The setting gives the action a surreal and unsettling energy, especially as Brian’s influence spreads through the people trapped inside. It feels chaotic, but in a way that reflects Peter’s mental state.

What makes the issue especially effective is how it balances action with emotional consequence. Peter does not simply punch his way out of the problem. He has to think, resist, and recognize that Brian is also someone in pain. That gives the climax more weight, especially when Peter’s seemingly electrical surge breaks through the control but does not magically fix everything. Brian survives, the danger ends, but the emotional scars remain.

The issue also makes good use of the supporting cast. The supporting cast brings urgency to the crisis, while Aunt May’s scenes add a surprisingly heartfelt turn. The final reveal that the mysterious Mac is May’s son, and therefore connected to Peter’s family in a major way, is a huge cliffhanger that shifts the issue from crisis resolution to major personal revelation. It gives the story a strong reason to continue beyond the immediate villain-of-the-issue conflict.

The art is also a major highlight. The pages are visually intense, with warped layouts, glowing spores, and distorted memories helping sell the feeling of mental invasion. The action scenes are dynamic, but the quieter emotional panels, especially May’s reaction near the end, are just as important.

CONS: One con, however, is that the issue can feel very packed. Between Peter’s job fallout, Brian’s powers and his resentment, the supporting cast’s involvement, May’s emotional scenes, and the final family reveal, there is a lot happening in one chapter. Some readers may wish a few moments had more room to breathe before the story moves to the next twist.

FINAL GRADE: S FOR SURPRISE, SPIDEY!!!

Overall, The Amazing Spider-Man #30 is a compelling and emotionally charged issue that uses its villain to explore guilt, control, and responsibility in a very Peter Parker way. It has the action expected from a Spider-Man comic, but its strongest hook is personal: Peter is not just fighting to save people, he is fighting to keep his own life from collapsing further. The ending lands with a major emotional punch, setting up an intriguing new direction for Peter, Aunt May, and the newly revealed Mac.

I’m really enjoying Spider-Noir, and my wish is that as more and more people tune in to watch these superhero shows, hopefully they are also encouraged to go out and try out some Spider-Man comics, because that is where all the action really is. The current run of The Amazing Spider-Man may not be everybody’s cup of tea. In fact, I have friends that simply cannot relate or connect with the current Spidey state of things. But, if you’re looking at it glass half-full, then maybe that just means Marvel is really taking a risk to do new things, different things, and sometimes dangerous things. Time will tell, but as we approach the big anniversary issue of AMS, I’m sure to stick around for the near future. The big reveal at the end of this current issue opens the door for so many crazy things that can possibly happen and rock Peter Parker’s world. One thing is for sure: nothing is going to be boring, moving forward.
